Dortmund off to positive restart

The Bundesliga restart has gone well for Borussia Dortmund, with a 4-0 win against rivals Schalke.

In an eerie, crowd-less affair at Signal Iduna Park, the Revierderby was very one sided as Dortmund claimed the three points.

Starlet Erling Håland opened the scoring on 29’, with Raphael Guerreiro scoring twice at 45’ and 63’ and Thorgan Hazard scoring on 48’.

The dominant display from Dortmund took them within a point of Bayern Munich for 48 hours before Munich restored their lead with a 2-0 win over Union Berlin.

At the end of matchday 26, Dortmund remain four points behind league leaders Bayern Munich.

Seventh place Freiburg holding RB Leipzig to a draw gives Dortmund a bit of breathing room from them as Borussia Mönchengladbach jump up into third.

Match day 27 sees Dortmund travel to Wolfsburg on Saturday to take on the sixth placed team coming off of a 2-1 win to Augsburg.

Wolfsburg left it late, with Dortmund youth product Daniel Ginczek scoring a back post tap in in stoppage time to win it.

Wolfsburg’s wide game was crucial in their attacks, with full backs Kevin Mbabu and Paulo Otávio providing an assist each.

Dortmund have been successful with the three man defence so far this season so there is no need to change it.

However Wolfsburg’s attacks starting with their full backs will press Dortmund’s wing backs into defending.

This is something for the Dortmund defence to be wary of.

Title rivals Bayern Munich again play after Dortmund this match day. They host 13th placed Eintracht Frankfurt.

For both Dortmund and Munich, this will be their final match before they play each other in a crucial fixture.

Both teams got off to a winning restart, now it is about building momentum.
