Teenage sensation Jude Bellingham has opted to move to Germany and sign for Borussia Dortmund, amidst serious interest from Manchester United.
Manchester United were the leading candidate in the race for the midfielder’s signature after he met with club legend and former manager Alex Ferguson at the Carrington training complex.
He was subject to transfer speculations throughout the January transfer window as Chelsea also were rumoured to be interested, but a move failed to materialize for the Englishman.
According to ESPN, German giant Borussia Dortmund looks to have won the race and are set to announce his signing.
A fee of around £20 million has been reached to bring the England U-17 international to the Signal Iduna Park,
The 16-year-old has been outstanding since his debut in August, and his performances earned him his way into Birmingham City’s starting side.
The midfielder has been a consistent performer for the Blues, scoring four goals and providing two assists in 33 appearances in the Championship.
Looking at Jadon Sancho’s success since his move to Dortmund, it’s no surprise to see Bellingham walk in the footsteps of his fellow compatriot and opt for a move to the Westfalenstadion.
With a midfield option of Fred, Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay at Manchester United, this move might be the right step in the right direction for the teenager.
BVB are well known to give rising stars enough first-team exposure and playing time to ultimately make world-class players out of them.
Jude Bellingham might be on the path to becoming the next Bundesliga teenage superstar.
